Zoho Mail Not Receiving Emails
Quick answer: Check Spam first, then check Filters for a rule silently sorting incoming mail, and confirm your custom domain's MX records are still pointed correctly at Zoho.
1. Check filters and rules first
Most "missing mail" reports I look into turn out to be a filter quietly moving or deleting incoming messages.
- Settings → Filters — check for anything moving messages to Trash or another folder.
- Check Spam directly.
- Settings → Mail Forwarding — confirm there's no old rule silently redirecting mail elsewhere.
2. For a custom domain: check MX records
If you're running Zoho Mail on your own domain rather than @zoho.com, missing mail is very often a DNS issue, not a Zoho account problem at all.
- In your registrar's DNS settings, confirm MX records point exactly to Zoho's mail servers as shown on Zoho's Mail → Setup → Domains verification page.
- DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours to fully propagate — if you just changed MX records, some delay is normal, not a sign something's broken.
3. Check storage quota
A full mailbox silently bounces new mail back to the sender rather than telling you inside the app. Check your storage usage under Settings.
4. Ask the sender to check for a bounce
If they got a bounce-back, the exact wording — "mailbox full," "domain not found," "550 relay denied" — points directly at the cause. Share it with your Zoho admin if this is a business account.
Business/Workplace accounts: if only some employees are missing mail, check that person's individual filters and forwarding settings rather than the domain-wide configuration.
